Momordica Charantia
A nutrient dense tropical fruit used as a vegetable in Asian cooking. Related to the zucchini, squash, pumpkin and cucumber. A vigorous climber which requires structural support.
Position: Full sun, at least 6-8 hours per day.
Soil: Rich, fertile and well-drained.
Watering: Keep moist but not waterlogged.
Fertilising: Before planting incorporate compost and a balanced vegetable specific fertilser.
Use: Harvest young fruit while green and firm.
CAUTION: Should not be consumed by pregnant or lactating women, people suffering hypoglycemia, low blood pressure or liver disease.
