Easy to grow and a popular salad vegetable. While linked with cabbage, collard greens are actually more closely aligned with kale. Unlike kale's curly, narrow leaves, collard greens' leaves are large, smooth and flat.
Position: Grows best in a full sun position. Will tolerate some shade.
Soil: Moist, fertile, well-drained soil.
Watering: Keep them well watered.
Fertilising: Slow release fertiliser 4-6 weeks.
Use: Harvest young leaves as required.
Grow tips: Harvest regularly to keep them sending out new leaves. Chilly nights with hints of frost bring out the best in Collard Greens.
