'Swamp Foxtail'
Swamp foxtail has arching , linear leaves that can reach up to a metre in length. The plant typically grows in dense, clump-forming tussocks. During late summer to autumn, it produces bottlebrush-like flower spikes that are soft, fluffy and typically light brown or cream in colour.
Position: Adequate sunlight is crucial for the best flowering and foliage density.
Soil: Moist, fertile well-draining, but can tolerate a range of soil types.
Watering: Tolerates wet conditions however is moderately drought tolerant once established.
Fertilising: Apply slow release native fertiliser in early spring.
Flowering: Late summer to autumn.
Grow tips: Prune back dried leaves in late winter. A robust growth habit makes it suitable for controlling erosion.
