An easily grown bulb with a strong flavour that is an essential herb for any kitchen. These plants are started from Australian grown bulbs.

Flavours/Food Partners

Chives, basil, oregano, ginger, coriander, chilli and rosemary. Enhances almost all food types. Especially good for prawns, pasta, lamb and chicken. Used in curries, stir-fries and most Asian dishes. Also useful for salad dressings, sauces and marinades.

Health/Cooking/Medicinal

A versatile herb that enhances other herbs and is an essential part of many different cuisines. Freshly harvested garlic is a much milder flavour than the store-bought product. It can be added at any stage of cooking being very good for your health, with modern research showing a regular intake of garlic will reduce risk of cancer and heart disease. Also good for building resistance to colds and flu. Plaited strands of garlic knobs will repel vampires.

Landscaping/Planting

Garlic will grow in most good soils but needs regular moisture and part to full sun.

Cultivation/Fertiliser

Harvest about 6 months after planting when the leaves start to turn brown. It needs regular applications of Seasol and PowerFeed in spring and autumn to keep the plant healthy and growing well.
