(Lavandula X Allardii)
Allard’s Lavender is an excellent garden plant with a long flowering period and attractive grey foliage. lt is a hybrid of Lavandula dentata and Lavandula latifolia that was first described in 1890.
Lavender flower spikes are produced in flushes from October to April (all year in warm climates) and are excellent for drying.
Plant in a sunny position in well drained soil. Allard’s Lavender can be used as a hedge or in a large garden bed with other shrubs and perennials. It must have plenty of sun, well drained soil and good air movement.
Cut the plant back to approximately half its height in mid autumn.
Regular applications of Seasol and Power Feed and an annual application of lime will keep it looking its best.
