(Penstemon ‘Hidcote’)
Like most penstemons, ‘Hidcote’ is an excellent garden plant. It is easy to grow, attractive for most of the year and flowers generously. Native birds use it as a food source.
The pink tubular flowers are produced along upright stems from late spring to autumn and into winter in milder climates.
Grows best in a sunny position in soil that is not wet. Penstemons will tolerate considerable heat and dryness but will thrive when they receive regular watering. Use with other perennials and shrubs such as Nemesia and Salvia ‘Bethelli’.
For best results prune the plant to a framework about 25-30cm high when flowering finishes.
Regular applications of Seasol and Power Feed will keep it looking its best.
Codes are a guide only and watering requirements will be affected by soil type, competition, mulching, wind and many other factors. Try to group plants with the same code in the one bed.
CAUTION: May be harmful if eaten.
